"I understand the differences and I've read the trimester blog and other information via the web. A trimester isn't the way to go. Francis Howell High School has no need to be different. Although, the school is below state standards, this will only decrease the scores.

Although, yes, I know there is no 'evidence' found in other schools where the student's performance decreases. It'll still be a major stress for the students! It would be much better to learn a little every day instead of a whole 70min learning block anyways. I know many students need time to wait and let the things they learn sink in. In addition, these students are not able to get any outside help such as friends or tutors from different schools. Online help that goes with the general curriculum (like AP Calculus!) will not be useful anymore since the student's pace is hastened.

Homework won't decrease either. Most students normally have major homework from one or two class with projects from other classes. For me, Calculus is the major homework I have. Other classes generally don't take me more than 30 or so minutes unless a project or essay is due. The only way it can decrease is if teachers continue teaching their normal pace (because students would do homework in the extra 20 minutes). But this is not the case. Teachers will have to cover move information a day to meet the 58 days as opposed to the 87 days. This may cause an increase in homework load. Such as some math classes.

Furthermore, students will have trouble matching with other schools for help. Francis Howell High school has no need to be so different. After all, if a trimester really will be very helpful and useful, why "I understand the differences and I've read the trimester blog and other information via the web.
