So, if you used an article that was from one of the books that Marti had out as a source, you are going to need some info to do the citation. Note that the individual article you use should be cited like an article from a reference book.

The first book is called: Their Eyes Were Watching God: A Casebook. It was published by Oxford University Press. The city is Oxford. The publication date is 2000.

The other book is called: New Essays on Their Eyes Were Watching God. It was published by Cambridge University Press. The city is New York. The publication date is 1990.

Anywho, I just wanted to say, I gave myself admin power.
Because, it's really annoying for me to sign out of my gmail account to post.

I've been up since 5:00 am reading your essays. (Get out the violins and tissues here.) More importantly, it's 10: am, and my mission is complete. I know some of you have been waiting a long time, and I apologize for the delay. I will not read anymore essays until I "attack" your final papers on Monday.

You might consider helping each other and posting some essays, and/or paragraphs, and/or questions on this blog.

Career Unit Assignment

._.; Seriously.
This is among the most useless assignments in school ever.
I mean yeah, it's important and stuff. To learn what we want to be, schools..etc.

But I already pretty much know exactly what I want to be. I already researched this on my own. I already know about a lot of the information and already looked at schools.

It would be much much useful if we had a few classdays where we go and talk to the counselor one on one. I mean this will at least be useful for everyone.

And perhaps everyone else would work on essays or stuff. Or some language thing. At least this doesn't take in your time.

AND even if we had to do this, there will be no grade on it. Just maybe a little completion grade on like if we actually attempted at doing this.

Seriously? Forcing me to compare two separate careers when I already know exactly what I want to do? (Yes I do know I can change and stuff, but I already done research, I already went to SCC and took a college credited class for Design to find out if I would actually like to major in it, I already have colleges in mind, I already planned my classes this year to correspond to my major, I already have an idea of the classes I wish to take next year, I already volunteer for artness, and yes I know my grammar spelling and everything is completing awful.. whoo-hoo for incredibly long run on! ._.; Why don't they at least have an alternative assignment where it can be more useful to me?

The powerpoint and presentation wasn't too helpful either.

Public Library Resources

For those of you who are in Marti's class 4th Hour you already know some of this

Some of you will get this for the first time.

If you go to the public library's website, www.youranswerplace.org and click on the button that says "Electronic Resources" you can access a huge number of resources to get a secondary source for your paper.

You do have to have a library card, however.

If you click on the link that says "literature" and go down to "literature resource center" and click the blue button on the right, you will get to, in my opinion, the best database for finding literary criticism.

Search for Grapes of Wrath Book Review. Watch with amazement as a million or so articles appear. If one sounds useful, go to the bottom of the page and click on full text. Try searching for some other topics. It's free! It's amazing! Those articles can make you sound really, really smart. Try it. You'll like it. (If you are using an off site computer, the user is "francis"; the password is "howell"------how easy is that?)

Your revised essay is due on Tuesday. On Monday, you will have time to ask specific questions about the work you are revising, so you should come to class prepared with questions. Remember that your class is large, so you will have only a few minutes with me. Have your questions ready. B

I was terribly disappointed to learn that many of you were not keeping up with the reading. I trusted you to WANT to learn. I was devastated at the results of the last quiz, so I am going to give you another. You have a chance for redemption, and I have a chance at recovery. For those of you who are reading this, know that on the twenty first you will have a "surprise" quiz on The Grapes of Wrath.

So,

I just got my new computer, because our old one is full of viruses and bad things.

So now we have a new one, but I can't read text documents from teacher's websites because my new computer runs vista, and office 2007, and it won't recognise the older word documents. Thankfully, I rememebered the password for the blog, because I couldn't open the file with that info.

DARN YOU MICROSOFT! DARN YOU TO HECK!!!!
